England Deaf International Futsal – Women – Press Release

EDIF are delighted to announce the appointment of AlexandreBrito Nogueira as Head Coach for the Women’s Squad.

Alex carries vast understanding and passion about the Futsalgame, as he is the current coach for Coventry Flames Women’s Futsal team who are competing in their first National Futsal Series league coming up. His holistic athlete-centred approach, where cognitive stimulus, hand in hand with video analysis and other technological tools, will be vitalfor the maximisation of the player’s potential and squad’sperformance.

Alex brings exciting insight of Portuguese futsal techniques,along with strong knowledge of player relationships, with commitment of recruiting and developing new and emerging talents, particularly across young deaf futsal players to the England International squad.

England Deaf Women Futsal Squad will be commencing their preparations for the European Deaf Futsal Championship,which is being held in Italy, December 2022. Preparations for trial and training sessions are currently being finalised and further details will become available shortly.

EDIF are delighted to announce the appointment of Marcos Leon as Head Coach for the Men’s Squad.

Marcos is a familiar face amongst Deaf Men Squads having been involved with the squad set up in the past under the guidance of the FA. Marcos has held previous roles with Manchester Futsal, Wrexham Futsal, Oldham Futsal and Stockport Futsal squads competing in Futsal at national and international stage. Marcos brings a strong concept of knowledge and understanding in Futsal. The Spaniard will lead a variety of futsal techniques to guide the squad with the best preparation to compete at the the highest level ahead of their games.

Daniel Hogan has been appointed as Assistant Coach for Men Squad. Daniel will bring his vast knowledge in the game of Futsal and bring across technical insight across the Deaf Futsal games. Daniel has been stalwart of Men Deaf Futsal for over 10 years having played for England Deaf Futsal in European and World Deaf Futsal Championships.

Marcos and Daniel will be looking to bring in young players and developing new and emerging talents to the new chapter of Deaf Futsal set up and will be looking to bring in people to support the squad set up.

England Deaf Men Futsal Squad will be commencing their preparations for the European Deaf Futsal Championship qualifier which will be held at Israel between 19-21 November 2021. The qualifiers will see England, along with Israel, Slovakia and Finland competing for top 2 places to qualify for European Championship which is being held in Italy, December 2022. Preparations for trial and training sessions are currently being finalised and further details will become available shortly.

We are a team of volunteers working to build together new squads ahead of the forthcoming European Deaf Futsal Championship (Nov 2022) and future championships (World Championship – 2023 and Winter Deaflympics – TBC).

Our vision is to increase opportunities for ALL Deaf Futsal players of all age, gender, race, religion and ethnicity across England, to compete in International competitions that EDIF may qualify for. We will promote Deaf Futsal in England, ensure a duty of care to all members of EDIF and ensure all present and future members receive fair and equal treatment.

EDIF is non-funded organisation operating without funding support from England Football Association and UK Deaf Sports. As voluntary organisation, EDIF are actively seeking for sponsorship, fundraising and commercial opportunities to support the Men and Women Deaf Squads ahead of their preparations for the forthcoming championships.
